Is The Car salesman a different type of salesman?

  • I know some of you are saying huh? Well to me it is a question that I put out there for the masses to answer. I personally feel that for the most part we are the same as any other salesman just a different product. And because of the product we are treated badly like we are trying to take the first and last spoonful of food from the baby's mouth. Besides realestate we are the only market in which you the customer believe you should be able to negotiate with us on the price.  why is that? Macy's, Homedepot, National floor liquidators, the painting contractor, messenger service all give you the price and you either take the price or keep shopping. But with a dealer you come in once twice three times sometimes talking about all the low prices you got elsewhere & will I beat it?  some of the guys out there will try, but me I say the price I give is what I am worth and what I feel I should be paid my commission on.

People seem to think there is this great amount of money in the cars but there is not and we deserve to make money on a sale. So why is it we have to be considered such bad guys just because we want to feed our families as well as the next guy? Yes we sell a costly product at times and you should be looking at the vehicle you need and what you can afford not come in looking for what you would like  knowing it cost too much for you in the first place. We end up being the bad guy because we show you the truth in what is right for you if that salesperson does his job correctly. Now we have a pissing contest of what we can and can't do price wise why give up this but you gotta have that and so forth.

Sometimes it is fun and sometimes it is annoying. Especially when people you thought realized what kind of person they are dealing with and decide to go elsewhere. but then have the nerve to come back to you when they have a problem. Me the dummy help them because they have bought from me in the past. I take it on the chin thinking next time they will remember and come back to where the truth and real customer satisfaction is aquired.

Cheryl Sanchez I know exactly what you mean and I have been on both sides of this. I am guilty of trying to get the "best" deal even though I have been a salesperson working on commission. On one hand I don't mind paying a little more so someone can make a few...  more
