NY Loves La Reina - Biographies
Lead Actor- Rhina Valentin Rhina Valentin is the star of the NY Loves La Reina sitcom. Ms. Valentin is an award-winning producer, performance artist, director, and writer and is the founder and CEO of La Reina Del Barrio, LLC. She is currently the host of the talk show Open which airs on Bronxnet (Channel 67 New York City). This show has an average of 500,000 viewers. r>Rhina Valentin trained as an actor in the Sanford Meisner Technique from the William Esper School. Her many awards from her work on the stage include the Hola award for outstanding female performer in a featured role and the BRIO Award. She was crowned “Diva” by The Village Voice in the year 2000 and the Siempre newspaper proudly granted her the title La Diva De El Barrio. Rhina Valentin also serves as the founder, producer and director of the Nuyorican Universal Theatre Society (NUTS). Rhina Valentin is also an arts instructor for the Children’s Aid Society where she teaches to 11-13 year old children.
>Producer- Sean McGinn Sean McGinn is an Emmy award-winning producer/cinematographer/editor. Mr. McGinn has worked for numerous television programs and independent films. He recently served as the staff news and documentary editor for Worldfocus, which aired national on PBS, and some of his other network and cable television credits include shows for ABC, CNN, A&E, The History Channel, WE, the Hallmark Channel, and Food Network.
Sean McGinn won an Emmy for the photography of his documentary The Everyday: Benediction Life at Mount Savior Monastery (PBS). He has a total of five Emmy nominations, including a nomination for his producing work on the docu-concert Bomplenazo for Bronxnet TV, and Ms. Valentin was a correspondant and interviewer for the program.
Co- Producer- Hugo Perez Hugo Perez is an award winning director whose work includes Betty La Flaca (HBO), Julietta Ramon (Showtime Latino Filmmaker Showcase), Summer Sun Winter Moon (PBS), and The Writer (PBS). Mr. Perez has also produced several feature documentaries which include Dance Cuba: Dreams of Flight, and The Ecstasy.
